Seeing without sharing

September 24, 2012

A very wise lady who offered a lifeline to me when I lived in Jeddah through her painting and drawing classes said that you start to see the world with an artist’s eye. On my morning walks in Dubai with the dogs there is a continuous internal monologue running through my head. The way the light catches the tower of the mosque, the scaffolding around my favourite scruffy mosque with its new golden crescent, the obliteration of the cooking house leaving three leaning palm trees abandoned and seemingly ill at ease, Dubai’s obsession with repetition, the curve of a lamp, the glimpse through an open gate. But alas, it’s still too humid to risk a shot so I remember sunny days in Devon and seaside plants…

…until my mechanical device can record my thoughts and sights again.
