The Challenge

Gulf For Good classified this challenge as hard – and while it was not Killimanjaro it demanded several months of training to become fit enough for the long walks and steep inclines.  When I first signed up keep fit regime is walking my dogs and there are no hills in Dubai so this is a serious challenge for me!  My thanks to everyone who followed my progress in this blog and gave me encouragement through the comments form.  Look back at the archives to read my full account – here’s the link to posts from Lebanon.

As well as raising significant funds for local charities, this trek benefited the local economy as we used local guides and stayed in small motels.  The mountain communities created this first long-distance hiking trail in Lebanon as they are determined to conserve their unique natural and cultural heritage through environmentally and socially-responsible ecotourism.
