Advertising, commissions, PR and disclosure
This is a personal blog with all content written and created by me, Sally Prosser. My main interests are fresh ingredients, home cooking, locally sourced and organic food and I am concerned about the spread of GM (genetically modified) crops and intensive farming practices. Food is at the heart of family life for me and we sit round the table most evenings for a home-cooked meal. Bread-making is a continuous learning curve – I try to make as much of our bread as possible. A British expat, I’ve lived in the Middle East since October 1995 and Dubai has been my home since 2000. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
My day job is as a marketing communications consultant specialising in social media strategy. Thank you for visiting my blog and taking time to read this information:
At the present time, I do not accept paid or commercial advertising in the form of banners, pop-ups, side-bar links or paid/sponsored posts as this is prohibited under the terms of my webhost WordPress.com. I may review this in the future if I decide to self-host.
This is decided entirely by me. I may choose to write about products or samples sent to me if I am genuinely interested in them, (and if I think my readers may be interested). The same applies to events that I am invited to.
If I have received samples or an invitation I will always disclose this to my readers.
I really am grateful for the interest that companies have shown in this site but it is not my motivation for producing it. If you are thinking of sending me an invitation, product or sample I’d rather you check with me first (I hate waste). Also acceptance of these items doesn’t mean I will endorse them (or blog about them). Authenticity is important to me so, I will always try to assess things fairly, but if I don’t like something I will say so. If you take a few moments to read my blog you’ll get an idea if the thing you are offering is likely to be of interest. And one last point – addressing your email as Dear Sally (rather than Dear blogger/editor) will stop it from going straight in the trash! Thank you.
I never do advance posts advertising a new opening or event. My blog is not a restaurant review site – and I don’t describe going out for a meal when it’s been paid for. However, sometimes I do write about restaurant experiences as part of a bigger concept (e.g. Indian fine dining, budget restaurants) or when something different has been part of the experience or I’ve learned something new (hands-on cooking, food and wine matching for instance).
I have not featured any guest posts to date as I have so many ideas that I would like to publish myself. While I don’t rule this out completely, please do not write and offer to guest post about something wholly unconnected with the content and ethos of my site.
If a product has been given to me free of charge or I have been invited to an event (e.g a dinner or lunch) as a guest, I will disclose this on my blog e.g.
Disclosure: I was a guest of the Burj Al Arab for the Taste of Festivities event.
All opinions will be my own.
