Advertising, commissions, PR and disclosure

This is a personal blog with all content written and created by me, Sally Prosser. My main interests are fresh ingredients, home cooking, locally sourced and organic food and I am concerned about the spread of GM (genetically modified) crops and intensive farming practices.  A British expat, I’ve lived in the Middle East since October 1995 and Dubai has been my home since 2000. Please contact me at sally@mycustardpie.com

My day job is as a marketing communications consultant specialising in social media strategy and content creation. Thank you for visiting my blog and taking time to read this information:

Advertising

At the present time, I do not accept paid or commercial advertising in the form of banners, pop-ups, side-bar links as this is prohibited under the terms of my webhost WordPress.com.

Editorial content

This is decided entirely by me. I may choose to write about products or samples sent to me if I am genuinely interested in them,  (and if I think my readers may be interested).  The same applies to travel trips or events that I am invited to.

If I have received samples or an invitation I will always disclose this to my readers.

I really am grateful for the interest that companies have shown in this site. If you are thinking of sending me an invitation, product or sample I’d rather you check with me first (I hate waste). Also acceptance of these items doesn’t mean I will endorse them (or blog about them). Authenticity is important to me so, I will always try to assess things fairly, but if I don’t like something I will say so. If you take a few moments to read my blog you’ll get an idea if the thing you are offering is likely to be of interest.  Thank you.

Restaurant reviews

My blog is not a restaurant review site. However, sometimes I do write about restaurant experiences as part of a guide to a location (usually when travelling) or when something different is of interest to my reader and in line with my values e.g. zero food waste, organic food, hands-on cooking, food and wine matching for instance.

Guest posts

I have not featured any guest posts to date as I have so many ideas that I would like to publish myself. While I don’t rule this out completely, please do not write and offer to guest post about something wholly unconnected with the content and ethos of my site.

Disclosure policy

If a product has been given to me free of charge or I have been invited to an event.

All opinions are my own.

Recipe development, testing and copyright

The recipes published on this site are either my own or adapted significantly from existing recipes (this is documented). Where I have used a recipe verbatim I have given a link to the source or mentioned the publication. I follow the guidelines given by the Food Blog Alliance on recipe attribution. If you would like to use any of my recipes please follow the same guidelines. If in doubt please ask me.

I am available to take commissions for recipe development and happy to provide a quotation for my services.

well hello Sally – I love your blog – thanks for finding mine and leading me back. All I could do when I read was ” wow you have been to Georgia – ah I have wanted to go for years (Not Atlanta Georgia, the other one… obviously) – I have read about the bread they have with cheese in the crust, I have looked at pictures of the landscape I have eaten Georgian food in Moscow and I have so long wanted to go, but it really isnt round the corner.. love the cook book review, I have so many on my shelf that I love – love this ladies book http://www.najmiehskitchen.com/ – for Iran, had an Iraqi one I like as well, and Armenian, Momngolian, etc. however not an Azerbaidschani one yet, and recently I promised myself that all my hard work should be rewarded with a cookbook but I couldnt find one that”spoke to me” – the one you write about might just be it! PS writing about a cuisine on the authoring a cookbook level without ever having set foot in the country I find a tad arrogant, unless the person spent lots of time with expats learning from them in his or her country But I am a purist in these matters.
